This procedure is known as spot cleaning make sure the hat is wet first by dunking it into the bucket sink. Do not wring or twist the hat as doing so may distort your hat s shape or cause pilling.

Rinse the lids with cool water to remove the detergent. Spot clean the hat first as needed. After you remove the hat place the hat on the pump mold and spritz it with a gentle mist of cleaning spray then gently comb the brim and cap of the hat with the cleaning brush to keep it looking nice.
Place the lids on a hard and clean surface. You can use your cutting board or even the countertops. Avoid rubbing wool hats too hard or it ll mess up the wool texture. If there are areas that are especially problematic spot clean them with a dab of cleaning product right on the hat. If you own a 100 wool hat its best to avoid the washers.
You can focus the wiping on the dirties area. Use the cleaning brush each time you wear the hat. After first dipping the hat in the water of your bucket or sink use a toothbrush or other small scrubber to rub the cleaner into the fabric. Hold the hat in between your hands and gently squeeze your hands together. Once the wash cycle has finished remove your hat and let it air dry.
Scrub until the hat has thoroughly absorbed the detergent. Place the hat on a clean towel and continue patting it until there is no longer any water dripping out of it.
